Five seniors earn National Merit Semifinalist awards
Five Breck seniors were named National Merit Semifinalists in this year's competition. Congratulations to Jacob Johnson, Lucia Miller, Thomas Peterson, Samuel Putnam, and Lana Trautman!
There were nearly 16,000 semifinalists nationwide, with 284 coming from Minnesota. In order to be considered a candidate for this recognition, students must take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). Semifinalists are those students with the highest scoring entrants in each state and represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
Semifinalists have the opportunity to continue in the competition with a change to earn one of 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million.
