After an extensive international search, Breck is excited to welcome David Daniel, Ph.D., as Executive Director of the Peter Clark Center for Mind, Brain, and Education. Dr. Daniel possesses incredible research knowledge and teaching experience in MBE as well as an unwavering passion for the growth, learning, and development of every student. He is eager to lead our Peter Clark Center and will begin at Breck this summer as Visiting Scholar as he continues his role at James Madison University through the fall.

Dr. Daniel is an award-winning teacher with over twenty-five years of classroom experience who currently teaches and does research in the Psychology Department at James Madison University in Virginia. His research focuses on translating findings from the Science of Learning and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning to usable knowledge, particularly for educational practice, policy, and student learning.  David is a charter member and former Executive Director of the International Mind Brain and Education Society. He was also the founding editor of the journal for Mind, Brain, Education, a position he held for its first decade. He has been the chair of the Learning and Brain Conference, winner of the 2013  Transforming Education through Neuroscience Award, and co-author of, "Educational Neuroscience: Are We There Yet?" (2019, Wiley Handbook on Education) and “Promising Principles: Translating the Science of Learning to Educational Practice” (2012, Journal of Applied Research in Memory and Cognition). He was also honored as one of the top 10% of Educational Researchers impacting public policy. David will be instrumental in translating  research to practice for our faculty as well as supporting our student and parent programs.
