Celebrating Recent Milestones in Performing Arts
February was filled with displays of remarkable talent and dedication within the Breck Performing Arts department. From individual accomplishments to collective success, our students continue to excel on regional and state platforms. We are proud to share the following achievements from our band and choral programs:

Haley B with her instrument

MBDA State Jazz Honor Band
Haley Boksburger participated in the 7th and 8th grades Minnesota Band Directors Association (MBDA) State Jazz Honor Band. This ensemble is made up of students from all over the state who went through a rigorous audition, and were chosen based on their ability and the needs of the ensemble. Selected students will experience what it is like to perform challenging, advanced music under the guidance of distinguished conductors, helping them develop both professional discipline and a high level of musicality. Haley is one of only four alto saxophonists who made the group. The MBDA State Jazz Honor Band Concert was held at Southwest High School on Friday, February 13, at 1:00 p.m.

Advanced Concert Chorale

MSHSL Large Group Contest Success
On Tuesday, February 24, the Advanced Concert Chorale represented Breck at the MSHSL Region 4A Large Group Contest held at Avail Academy. Competing alongside nine other area schools, our ensemble performed at Level 1—the most challenging tier of competition.

The Chorale performed a diverse program featuring the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel’s Messiah and Bob Chilcott’s arrangement of Billy Joel’s "And So It Goes." We are proud to announce that the group received Superior ratings from all three adjudicators, the highest possible score a group can achieve.
Congratulations to all the members of the Advanced Concert Chorale on this "Superior" achievement!
