Class of 2021 Online Pinning Ceremony
Senior Pinning is a tradition that began in the 1940s when Breck required military training of its all-male student body. At the formal year-end dinner honoring the graduating class, the seniors, in full dress uniform, would present their military pins to their mothers. In addition to its military uniforms and strict discipline, Breck stood out as the only school in the area offering a riding program, complete with reviews by officers from Fort Snelling. It was during this time that the Mustang emerged as the school’s mascot. This page, as a part of the senior celebrations, recognizes a long legacy of discipline and service, and honors the students of the Class of 2021. Today’s school pin, a replica of the Breck shield, displays the Episcopal cross and sword along with the lamp of knowledge.
