Faculty Stories

Students work on measuring for a science project

A big part of what makes Breck unique is its roster of incredibly hardworking, innovative, and knowledgeable teachers. These educators work tirelessly to facilitate learning inside and outside the classroom, and Breck wouldn't be Breck without them. Below, a handful of faculty members from across divisions share why they love Breck—and what they think makes our school so remarkable.

“Teachers and students within these walls truly are examples of what it means to have an innovative mindset. This has been a major factor in my continued motivation over the years to take meaningful risks, pursue passions, and challenge both my students and myself. Breck is a place where everyone wants everyone to succeed.”

—Sara Thorne, Lower School

“Breck is a welcoming and friendly place with amazing colleagues and curious students. I appreciate that it offers so many opportunities for everyone to learn and grow. Everyone can be themselves and bring their own style and knowledge to the classroom while collaborating and supporting students.”

—Dr. Jon Keljik, Upper School

“What I appreciate most about Breck is the community. Of all the days of the week, the one I cherish most is Thursday: chapel day. I see this shared space and time as one of Breck’s most essential facets as it gathers all of us to share perspectives, cultural traditions, and our identities.”

—Monica David, Middle School

“Breck is truly a community of learners. Students are here to push themselves towards excellence and to be the best version of themselves. At the same time, it’s not just about them as individuals; they really want to be there for their community, support one another, and work toward a collective goal.”

—Marcus Berg, Upper School

“There are so many opportunities for students, staff, and parents to grow and support each other. The energy around continually learning and flourishing together happens both on the individual and collective level, and it is incredibly exciting to contribute and be a part of it all!”

—Rachel Yoon, Middle School

“At Breck, the entire school—preschool to grade 12—exists harmoniously on one campus. All students possess an enriched experience from the day-to-day interactions with students of differing age groups.”

—Brian Wright, Upper School
