Homecoming Week 2023
Breck's Homecoming Week 2023 (September 18–23) was filled with pride for the Blue & Gold!
On Monday morning from 8:00–8:30 a.m., the Advanced Concert Chorale and Symphonic Wind/Jazz Ensemble played various songs, including the Alma Mater and Breck’s Fight Song. At the same time, the Upper School student councils greeted Lower and Middle School students as they arrived at school for the Homecoming Kickoff! Watch the video here.
On Tuesday, we welcomed back our Golden Mustangs to campus for a breakfast where Dr. Hernández and Breck’s program directors spoke. Our Golden Mustangs are alumni who graduated 50+ years ago, and we enjoyed hosting them!
On Wednesday, our Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient, Paul Williams ’80, presented during the Upper School’s Distinguished Alumni Chapel. Paul serves as the President and CEO of the Project for Pride in Living, and he encouraged Breck students to live out the school’s mission statement during his keynote speech.
On Thursday night, Breck hosted the Outstanding Alumni Awards, which include the Breck Athletic Hall of Fame (Nick Vanderboom ’02, John Curry ’02, Alyssa Nelson ’03, the 2002-2003 Girls Basketball Team, and the 2023-2024 Football Team), the Del Carter ’50 Memorial Award (John Thiel), the Excellence in the Arts Award (Mike Mattison ’87 and Kevin Cannon ’98), and the Alumni of the Year Award (Allison Cole ’14).
On Friday, the Alumni Council spent time welcoming alumni back to Breck at the Homecoming Tailgate and Football game!
On Saturday, the Alumni Council had a great time at the Blessing of the Animals and the Carnival and Cookout. Breck also hosted the 1996 MN State Championship Football Reunion that included former players, coaches, and their family members. Go Mustangs!

Breck's Class of 2024 includes five Semifinalists, seven Commended Scholars, and two National Recognition Award winners.
Breck alumna will represent her home state of Minnesota in the newly established league.
Ms. Z will share and expand her knowledge on diversity, equity, and inclusion at CSEE, Breck, and beyond.
