General Application Requirements

In the tabs below, you will find application requirements by grade. These requirements are reflected in your application account. If you click on the “apply” button, you will be asked to create an account and complete a short form with some basic demographic information and student interests. It will take about ten minutes to complete and once submitted, you will have access to a personal application checklist where you can track your application progress.

There is a $75 fee associated with completing the application form; the fee is waived for families applying for financial assistance. If you have any questions as you complete the application for admission, please do not hesitate to contact the admissions office (admissions@breckschool.org) and/or reference our FAQ for common application questions.

Pre & K

Children age three as of April 30 are eligible to apply to preschool. Students may enroll in one or two years of preschool. Please note, financial assistance is available for children who will be four or older on the first day of school. For families applying to kindergarten, your child must be five years old as of September 1. Children who turn five after September 1 will be considered for preschool.

SCHEDULE A CAMPUS TOUR

A campus tour is recommended and is intended for prospective parents/guardians. While children are always welcome on tours, most parents elect to attend the tour without their child to maximize their ability to engage in their appointment. Tours are available on select weekdays during the week, as well as during our in-person Open House events in November and January. Please see our Visit page for more information about scheduling tours and registering for campus events.

Admissions Assessment and Conference

Upon submitting the initial Breck application form, a member of the Admissions Team will contact you to schedule a time for your student's admission assessment and parent conference.

PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN PLAYGROUP

For families with children applying to preschool and kindergarten, a link to a playgroup schedule will be included in your application checklist. Please select a date when you are your child are able to attend. These short playgroups, run by Breck early childhood teachers, are accompanied by concurrent programming for parents/guardians.

Recommendation

Our online application system will enable you to send a recommendation request directly to the your child's current teacher. Please submit this request no later than the application deadline.

Family Statement

We recommend completing the statement after you have completed your admissions conference and had the opportunity to tour the school (if applicable). This provides you with an opportunity to articulate why Breck may be the best educational fit for your family and share any additional insights into your child's strengths and growth opportunities. The statement must be submitted by the application deadline.

Financial Aid

If applying for financial assistance, complete the financial aid application by February 1, 2025. Financial aid decisions will be released with admissions decision.

Grades 1st - 4th

Upon submitting the initial Breck application form, a member of the Admissions Team will contact you to schedule a time for your student's admission assessment and parent conference. The assessment and conference will coincide with your child's visit day where they will spend a full school day in a Breck classroom.

Our online application system will enable you to send recommendation(s) requests directly to your child's current teacher(s). Please submit this request no later than the application deadline.

Financial Aid

If applying for financial assistance, complete the financial aid application by February 1, 2025. Financial aid decisions will be released with admissions decision.

Grades 5th - 12th

This creates your application account and gives you access to your child's application checklist. It takes approximately ten minutes to complete.

Schedule campus Tour

The campus tour is intended for parents and the prospective student(s). Tours are available on select weekdays during the week, as well as during our in-person Open House events in November and January. While campus tours are not required, they are highly recommended. Please see our Visit page for more information about scheduling tours and registering for campus events.

Admissions Testing

Breck's admissions office offers admission testing appointments on campus on select dates in December and January:

December 7
January 4
January 25

There is no additional charge for application testing completed on campus. For families who are unable to visit our campus, we will accept the ISEE exam results in lieu of our admissions testing. Please note, families opting to take the ISEE are responsible for the fees associated with taking this exam.

For questions regarding application testing and/or if your child currently receives extended time to complete exams and/or has an IEP or 504 plan, please contact the Admissions Department, 763-381-8186.

STUDENT DAY VISIT

Applicants to grade 5 through 12 are required to spend a day in our community and classrooms. We offer several set days when students can visit campus; information pertaining to scheduling day visits can be found within the application checklist.

ADMISSIONS CONFERENCE

Parents/guardians of applicants to Middle and Upper School are required to complete an admissions conference (interview).

Recommendations

Our online application system will enable you to send recommendation requests directly to the individual you have selected. to complete the form. Please submit these requests no later than the application deadline. Given the unprecedented circumstances in the past year, our recommendations do take into account that a teacher may have been instructing your child via a remote medium, thus changing the degree to which he/she/they may know your child/family personally.

Family Statement

We recommend completing the family statement after you've completed your admissions conference and had the opportunity to tour the school (if applicable). This provides you with an opportunity to articulate why Breck may be the best educational fit for your family and share any additional insights into your child's strengths and growth opportunities The statement must be submitted by the application deadline.

Student Statement

We recommend that students complete this statement after their admissions conference and tour of the school (if applicable). Students will have the opportunity in their own words to reflect on their interest in joining the Breck community. The statement must be submitted by the application deadline.

Financial Aid

If applying for financial assistance, complete the financial aid application by February 1, 2025. Financial aid decisions will be released with admissions decision.
