Schedule Design Process

In February 2021, Breck created a Design Team to reimagine the Breck Academic Schedule. The team of 19, included students, faculty and admin, across all divisions. The team’s goal was to develop a new schedule that best prepares Breck students to lead lives of intellectual curiosity, self-knowledge, and social responsibility. The human-centered design process allowed the team to build on Breck’s tradition of excellence while incorporating our community’s expertise, and lessons learned during this past year.
 

A Letter from Dr. Hernández & CIO Mark Garrison

Dear Breck Community,

For the last three months, members of our school community have worked collaboratively to develop a new all-school daily schedule to be implemented in the fall of the 2021-2022 school year. We are writing today to share these schedules and provide insight into the process used in their development. While these new schedules will impact every student across the school, the biggest changes in our daily schedule are seen in the Middle and Upper School.

Design Thinking at Breck
Design Thinking, a process of building deep empathy to understand problems and then iteratively build solutions, has lived at Breck for many years. We are now incorporating this process with increased intentionality to leverage the extensive teaching and learning expertise of our faculty and the strategic innovation of our community.
