US Robotics recognized as Gracious Professionals

Monday, April 2, 2018

Breck's STAMPEDE 3630 Robotics team had a great weekend at the Minneapolis regional FIRST Robotics competition at the University of Minnesota. While the team didn't place, they were awarded the Gracious Professionalism Award sponsored by Johnson & Johnson.

The award recognizes outstanding sportsmanship and continuous gracious professionalism, in the heat of competition, both on and off the field of play. To win, a team must exemplify the principles of FIRST - fairness, humility, sharing, and persevering - and a winning attitude.

Breck's STAMPEDE team continued their partnership with a fellow robotics team from the Czech Republic. The two teams worked side-by-side during the second week of spring break and even shared a pit together during the competition.

The FIRST competition created a rhyme for the winning team, which is included below:

This team's been gracious to all of us here,

But their grace extends far beyond those who are near

Local 3rd graders they have lifted from their robotic fog,

Just like the future engineers that joined us from Prague,

Gracious Professionalism is a built-in part of their creed

Another in the long line of good deeds from the Golden Valley Stampede!

While the team didn't place at this past weekend's competition, they did advance to State based on their recent competition in Duluth, MN. Stay tuned for more updates and congratulations, Breck STAMPEDE!
