Academic Support

Academic Support

Each division provides developmentally appropriate academic support/enrichment as needed.  Language arts and math resource teachers, learning consultants and tutors work closely with the faculty to identify, address and monitor the academic needs and development of each student.

Guidance

Division level guidance teams meet weekly to discuss student needs.  The guidance teams are comprised of faculty representatives from all aspects of student life.  Plans are developed to address identified needs in areas such as academic progress and social/emotional concerns.

Learning Consultant/Tutoring Coordinator

The learning consultant/tutoring coordinator in each division provides assistance to students, teachers and parents in a variety of ways.  These include classroom observations, consultation and, coordination of support services including tutoring.  The learning consultants oversee academic support planning and delivery as part of the guidance team in their respective divisions. The learning consultant may be contacted with questions related to learning issues or to obtain information about tutoring.

Resource Teachers

In the Lower and Middle Schools, language arts and math resource teachers provide individual and small group services to students who require additional academic support.  Math enrichment is provided for students who demonstrate exceptional mathematical ability.  Science and technology resource teachers support curriculum development and instructional strategies in the classroom.

In the Middle and Upper Schools, students may consult resource teachers for help with organization, time management and study skills as well as on-on-one support in all academic areas.

Tutoring

Tutoring services are available to students who, through the referral process in each division, have been identified as needing tutoring support.  On-campus tutoring is coordinated through the learning consultants and is fee-based.  Financial aid may apply.  Referrals to community-based tutors and academic coaches are also available.
