Breck School to Present Fall Drama Festival
Minneapolis, MN, October 12, 2005 — Breck School will present "The Rimers of Eldritch" by Lanford Wilson and "The Taming of the Shrew" by William Shakespeare the first two weekends in November as part of its annual fall drama series.
"The Rimers of Eldritch" is written by one of America's best and most prolific playwrights, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lanford Wilson. In this play set in the 1960s, Wilson explores false morality in a small Midwestern town that leads to murder and innocence lost. The play is appropriate for young adult and adult audiences. "The Rimers of Eldritch" will be performed on Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5.
"The Taming of the Shrew," which will be performed the following weekend, is one of Shakespeare's earliest comedies, and considered by some to be one of his funniest works. It is a lighthearted play full of humor, disguises and deception, which is appropriate for people of all ages. "The Taming of the Shrew" will be performed on Friday and Saturday, November 11 and 12.
"We're delighted to bring both of these plays to the community," said Tom Hegg, Breck drama instructor and director of both productions. "Our students are working hard to make these very enjoyable performances."
All productions will take place in the Cargill Theatre at Breck School, beginning at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available for $5 each by mailing the Theatre Department, Breck School, 123 Ottawa Ave. N., Minneapolis, MN 55422 or through the box office the evening of the performance.
