Great Results for Lower School Chess
State Grade Level Championship Results
Breck sent three teams to the recent Minnesota state SCA (Scholastic Chess Association) championships, and all three teams did very well.
The fourth-grade team finished second overall, just two points out of first place. The third graders finished tenth in their section despite having only three players instead of the other teams' four. Our second graders finished sixth overall.
Earning individual honors during the tournament were a Breck fourth grader who took fourth place, another fourth grader who took eighth, and a second grader who placed twelfth.
Earlier Tournament Results
Several individuals have been very active in tournament chess throughout the season. Notable finishes include a third place in the SCA Snowball Open rated section (the top section) and second in the SCA Prianka Bhakta Rated K-6 section in November. Another fourth grader tied for first in the Chess Club of Minnesota's scholastic round robin tournament, Kasparov group, in January.
Congratulations to all the members of Breck's Lower School Chess Club!
