A Message From the Head of School

I am delighted that you want to know more about our plans to transform the educational experience in our Upper School, and the "Meeting the World" campaign that will make it possible. Through this project, we will have facilities that truly support our ability to deliver on Breck's mission.

By clustering all academic disciplines, we will maximize opportunities for collaboration among faculty and introduce students to the kind of spaces they’ll encounter at college.

Through modernization of our science facilities, we will better support our advanced STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) curriculum, as well as co-curricular activities such as our emerging robotics program.

With spaces designed to support learning beyond the classroom, we will intentionally utilize all spaces — hallways, alcoves and balconies — to meet, teach and learn together throughout the campus.

In renovating the Upper School, the oldest part of our building, we will enhance Breck’s potential to recruit and retain high-caliber teachers.

And by envisioning the entire Upper School at once, not in piecemeal changes or additions, we will transform the educational experience while increasing safety, reducing disruption and best managing costs.

I invite you to join me in imagining the opportunities for our students as these plans become reality.

Very truly yours,

Edward Kim
Head of School
