Multicultural Parent Education

A subcommittee of the Parents Association, the MCPE consists of a group of parent volunteers. Our mission is to provide opportunities for parents to come together, throughout the year, to reflect and discuss cultural perspectives that may be outside their own individual life experiences and to share experiences and challenges of diversity, within our school community, local community and the world at large.

Please join us and feel free to contact chairs Heather Miller or Farida Korallus if you have any questions. Thank you!

Heritage Room, Anderson Ice Arena

Parents will have the chance to listen to some of our students, sharing their insights and experiences around issues of diversity and social justice, and to hear directly from students about the multicultural education practices in the Upper School.

There will be eight Upper School students who attended the Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC)** in Philadelphia in December 2011 and four students talking about their Independent Study Project.

In addition, we will be hearing from some of our International students.

** SDLC is a multiracial, multicultural gathering of upper school student leaders (grades 9-12) from around the country. SDLC focuses on self reflecting, forming allies, and building community.
