Fast forward 5, 7, 9 years … you have a freshman, possibly even a senior at Breck School. What will they be like? What amazing forces within the Breck community will shape them? How will they develop their sense of self, their values, their compassion for others, their sense of social justice within the world?
Of course there is no way of knowing this exactly, but wouldn’t it be interesting to hear from a group of current Breck Upper School students about just these things?
Please join the Multicultural Parent Education Committee on Friday, April 12, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. as we host a morning featuring 9 Upper School students, back recently from the Student Diversity Leadership Conference in Houston, Texas. These student leaders will share with parents their experiences at the conference and their Breck journey — what they have seen and learned along the way about such issues as diversity, social justice and what they understand about the world and their place in it, as they prepare to go out into it soon. You will gain an insightful perspective about how Breck is shaping our leaders of tomorrow.
To assist us in planning for the breakfast, please RSVP to Farida Korallus or Sally Horstman. Thanks!
A subcommittee of the Parents Association, the MCPE consists of a group of parent volunteers. Our mission is to provide opportunities for parents to come together, throughout the year, to reflect and discuss cultural perspectives that may be outside their own individual life experiences and to share experiences and challenges of diversity, within our school community, local community and the world at large.
Please feel free to contact chairs Farida Korallus or Sally Horstman you have any questions. Thank you!
