Middle School After-School Program
The Breck Middle School After-School Supervised and Independent Study program provides a welcoming, enriching and fun adolescent-centered learning, playing and relaxing environment for Breck students in fifth through eighth grades. The program is offered on school days from 3:30 to 5:30 PM.
Fifth and sixth graders take part in the Supervised Study program in the Middle School Media Center. They complete their homework, explore and enrich their school studies and personal areas of interest while creating projects, making friends, and having lots of fun. Supervised activity subjects include art, media-arts, athletics, reading and more.
Seventh and eighth graders engage in the Independent Study program in the North Middle School Commons. Students are provided with the unique and valuable opportunity to autonomously study, socialize, and relax after the regular school day is complete.
Terms and Conditions
There is no cost to attend the Middle School After-School program. However, due to Breck’s primary interest in providing a safe and productive after school study environment, attendance is strictly controlled. The following are the only reasons why a student may attend the Middle School After-School Program:
- The student takes a music lesson at Breck after school, or she or he is enrolled in a supervised after school activity that ends before 5:30 PM (MIP, Theater Production, etc.).
- The student has a sibling(s) at Breck who is involved in an after-school program or activity.
- The student is receiving after-school tutoring from a Breck School instructor. This is usually a circumstance encountered by seventh- and eighth-grade students. The parent/guardian is responsible for contacting the Breck Middle School office (via phone or written permission) if his or her child is going to receive this service.
- Extenuating circumstances: Parents and/or guardians requiring after school supervision due to special circumstances must contact the Breck Middle School office and speak directly to the Middle School Director or his or her child’s appropriate Dean.
