A Conversation Between Teacher and Student
Modern technology has made it possible for our students to have access to information from around the world, but it is the individual conversations between teachers and students that still matter most. Every day at Breck there are hundreds of these conversations taking place--evidence of the simple yet rich connection that happens as a teacher guides a student toward learning and self-discovery.
What makes it possible? It's teachers who are so excited about learning that they cannot help but pass that enthusiasm on to their students, students who inspire each other with their high standards and their appreciation for the differences that make each one of them special and inviting spaces that reinforce students' desire to learn.
Breck has a long tradition of academic excellence, firmly rooted in our Mission and Values, and a deep commitment to keeping the conversation alive.
"I get to do lots of things at Breck. I like to swim, and I like to draw all kinds of pictures. I can speak Chinese--this is my fifth year. I like to read to my preschool buddy Julia. I let her pick out the books. I like multiplication because it's hard and I like challenges. Breck is really fun. I have fun every day."
Jillian, Fourth Grade

"Math, French and science are my favorites. I like puzzles, and I like to uncover information and solve things--like how planes take off and how oxygen works in your body. The teachers at Breck make it fun and really help us learn. Ms. Tonkin is one of my favorites because she went out of her way to meet us at the library for summer book club. That was pretty nice."
Sam, Sixth Grade
