Background

This position provides support of "student" hardware and software resources in the Repair/Maintenance Center (RMC). This support will focus on student laptops 1 to 1, student carts and software, desktop hardware and software in student labs and media centers and the technology needs of summer programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair and configure hardware and software on student Macintosh computer systems and academic printers.
  • Utilize the Apple GSX system and Web Help Desk software to implement the 1:1 laptop loaner and repair process.
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day student computer problems.
  • Maintain and administer the software images for all student desktop/laptop computers school-wide.
  • Maintain software and security programs for student computers.
  • Use the "Tech Request Database" to provide academic technology support for student computer hardware and software throughout the school.
  • Maintain inventory database for all student desktop/laptop computers and printers school wide.
  • Track printer supplies and keep the Technology Director informed of the supply status.
  • Serve as a resource to the summer school program on all technical issues.
  • Be a resource of information to the Computer Education Department.
  • Be a resource and provide backup support to the Technology Support Services Department.
  • Remain informed on current computer trends by ongoing training and attending workshops, seminars or conferences and reviewing published information.
  • Reports directly to the Technology Director.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Competencies

  • Certified Applecare technician or progress toward this certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Macintosh OS X operating system administration
  • Familiarity with a 1 to 1 student laptop program
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware and software computer problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, anticipate workload, set priorities and complete work on a timely basis
  • Demonstrated ability to interface cooperatively, courteously and professionally with students, teachers and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive work environment.

Education and/or Experience

College degree preferred
