Lower School Community Service

Lower School students participate in service learning experiences within our school and larger community. Beginning in preschool, children learn the value of giving of oneself to others. Food collections, biddying, reading to preschoolers, visiting nursing homes and establishing relationships in community schools are among the activities that engage us in reaching out and developing a sense of responsibility for the common good.

Jump-a-thon for Heart

Breck Lower School students are among the state's leading participants in the American Heart Association's annual Jump-a-thon. Students collect pledges and spend an afternoon exercising their own hearts for the benefit of others.

Birthday Bash Food Drive

Upon learning that children whose families rely on local food shelves have limited access to birthday party supplies, Breck's Lower School began a festive annual tradition. Students collect partyware, cake and frosting mixes to donate to the food shelf. It's a great celebration in Chapel, as they conclude by singing rousing choruses of "Happy Birthday" in English, Chinese and Spanish.
