Financial Aid

Breck provides a strong financial aid program and need-based grants that carry no obligation for repayment by parents, but the requests exceed available funds every year. Please follow the procedure below to assure timely consideration by SSS (the School and Student Service for Financial Aid, part of the National Association of Independent Schools) and Breck’s Financial Aid committee.

All information about students who apply for financial aid is held in strict confidence.

By February 15

Complete the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) at sssbynais.org. The PFS code for Breck is 1804.

Please note:

  • In cases of separation or divorce, both parents must complete the process. If there has been legal termination of one parent’s rights, please forward documentation to the Director of Financial Aid.
  • In cases of remarriage, or where a biological parent and significant other might reside together outside of marriage, it is considered to be a “household”, and the financial information of both the biological parent and stepparent or significant other is required.

Please upload the following documents to SSS:

  • For first-time filers, a copy of your 2013 and 2014 Federal 1040 tax forms, along with schedules, W-2s and/or 1099s. (Current Breck Families who have previously applied for financial aid need submit only the 2014 information.)
  • A copy of your 1098 tax form (college tuition statement), if applicable
  • A copy of your K-1 tax form (for business partnerships), if applicable
  • A copy of your child’s 2013 and 2014 Federal taxes, if applicable
  • Breck Supplement

Decisions

Decision letters will be mailed on April 3, 2015. Applicants who did not complete the application process by the February 15 deadline will be considered and notified after the first round of decisions is complete.
