Welcome from our Head of School

July 1, 2017

Dear Breck Community,

It is with great enthusiasm and sincere honor that I write to you as I begin my tenure as Breck’s 16th Head of School. My husband, Bobby, and I along with our daughters, Gaby and Andi, have just arrived from New Orleans where we developed many meaningful friendships and served Isidore Newman School with tremendous pride. While there are many similarities between these two excellent schools, Breck’s strong history of commitment to a unique and inspirational mission led me to this community. We are so happy to be part of the Breck family and call Minneapolis home.

As an educator and administrator, I am committed to discovering the unique talents of each individual child. I believe it is our purpose to create an environment of care and support where every student is challenged to fulfill his or her greatest promise. We can do this best by knowing them as learners and individuals, recognizing their skills and motivations, and pushing them to excel. I value sharing our gifts with the broader community through service. We are a stronger, more unified community when we celebrate our differences within a culture of inclusion.

For more than 130 years, Breck has built a rich history around these same principles—values that resonate from the stories and experiences shared across the Breck community. As I begin my tenure in this role, as well as in the role of a Breck parent, I look forward to experiencing a "year of firsts," sharing important events through the eyes of our students, alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, and staff. I am enthusiastic about meeting with students and collaborating with our distinguished faculty, staff, and administrators.

Since being named Head of School, I have been overwhelmed by the warm "Minnesota" welcome my family and I received from so many of you. As we look to the fall, we are scheduling opportunities for us to connect, specifically a number of events surrounding Homecoming weekend on September 14-16.

I wish you all a safe and restful holiday weekend, and hope you enjoy this summer season.
