Breck alumnus Evan Jones' students are treated to a truly innovative curriculum that changes from year to year. Says Evan, "The whole point of science education is to give students the tools they need to satisfy their curiosity. So we keep the same themes bu do different projects based on each year's student interests."

Lora traces her interest in other languages and cultures to her childhood experiences in San Antonio, Texas. "My father, who was in insurance, was transferred there for a few years. He really saw the future need for all of us to be less isolated and more able to communicate with the rest of the world."

Says Carrie, "I guess I wasn’t too sure about working with Middle School students at first. Right after I started, I called my mom to apologize for my own behavior in seventh grade! But these kids are amazing. They can be a little squirrely and a little lippy, but they’re so much fun."

Dan, who teaches sixth-grade science, says he’s incredibly fortunate to have found a career that encompasses much of what he enjoyed studying, himself: "stuff that moves and stuff that blows up."
